NAIDOC Week Indigenous Art Exhibition 2025

Christian Brown

Christian is a 2nd generation indigenous artist from the Yorta Yorta people and he follows in his grandfather’s footsteps. Christian’s grandfather spent his childhood growing up on the Cummeragunja aboriginal mission on the Murray River, before moving to Tasmania in his early 20s. Christian was born in Hobart, Tasmania in 1976 and lived there until 1995. He then enlisted into the Australian Defence force and served in the Royal Australian Army until 2017. Since leaving the Defence force he now lives on Boonwurrung country, in southeast Gippsland, Victoria. Christian works in a contemporary intuitive style and primarily working in acrylic on canvas. His artwork is a direct reflection of his passion for his culture and heritage and the natural land around Boonwurrung country.
